DD says LSA hurts her

My dd is doing a slow transition to a new school, I mentioned to her that she will be visiting it tomorrow with her TA, she immediately said she doesn't want her to come. I obviously asked why and that's when she mentioned that she squeezes her arm sometimes.

She also said that the TA makes her turn towards the head teacher during assembly, and dd does not like this apparently and that's why she finds her annoying.

Now, I know the logical thing is to speak with senco, but I'm really unsure how to proceed. I do think my dd can be a bit too sensitive and often conclude that so and so hurt her even though it was accidental (has done it to me before).

It could be something - or it could be nothing. I would definately let the Senco know that you know and that dd has 'mentioned' it. Always good to let them know that dd will snitch if she is hurt and also that she's sensitive to touch, so best for them to avoid that at all costs .

I couldn't get through to senco.

The weird thing is that she was accompanied by this particular TA today to shadow her at the new school. She said she had lots of fun with TA and "she wasn't angry with me in the new school" I've asked when is she angry "when I'm not listening or doing naughty things, she tells me I'm going to go in time out".

It's so hard to get an accurate picture of what's happening, I wonder if she's just firm with her and she doesn't like it?

I am glad she said she had a nicer day, I still think I would follow it up though!

My DS is similar. It's hard to understand if something genuinely happened or if he's overreacting. I sometimes see incidents occur where I can see someone didn't mean any harm but DS gets annoyed and says they were bullying him. It makes it hard to know if something really did happen when you weren't there to witness it.

If I were you I'd mention it to the school. It's awkward when you don't want to sound like you're accusing someone of something they may not have done. At least if you mention it in a way that suggests your DD is a bit sensitive then at least the TA, if she is squeezing her arm, will know that you know - and will hopefully cut it out.
