Hi

Just to let you know Carers Week starts on 14th June . You may have events going on in your area. Check out www.carersweek.org/whatshappening.asp

In our area we're having a Carers Ball and guest speaker is Hugh Marriott, whose book I am reading at the moment (The Selfish Pig's Guide to Caring). It is a essential read for anyone who is caring and well recommended. I got it through Amazon for £9.95. It's a must-read if you're feeling down and isolated.

I heard an interview with Hugh Marriott on R4 - his book sounds great!

Very easy to read and full of common sense.

Did anyone do anything during Carers Week?

Last Thursday I went to a Carers Ball organised by Rotherham council and Rotherham Primary Healthcare Trust. I met Hugh Marriott (author of 'Selfish Pig' book) there after I'd listened to his talk and he signed my book.

Also there:

I had a hand and arm massage by the Body Shop rep.

discussed how to 'move and handle' my dd (when she's having a 'do' with a bloke who trains the people at the hospital on 'moving and handling'

met dd's SALT for the first time (phwoaarrr!) - will be referred to as the luscious Daniel from now onwards - he had me speechless, never mind dd

joined the local Carers Forum

got loads of freebies

Then on Friday we held a pamper day at dd's school and I had a lovely relaxing indian head massage! Hence I'm still chilled!

Did anyone else do a bit of participating?
