Hi all
My son has just started his first term in Reception. He came home from school on Friday saying a new boy was starting who is very shy and didn't know how to share. He is apparently starting later and leaving earlier than the rest and also said that he wouldn't be going out to play or to assembly.

Any ideas why? never heard of this before

Thanks

It could be any number of things tbh. My first guess would be something like autism. Saying that he is shy may be the simpler explanation given for why he doesn't say much. Starting later and leaving earlier would mean that he wouldn't get caught up in the rush that there often is at those times. He may find it difficult to be too close to other children which may be why he doesn't go to assembly or out in the playground.
