Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

What autistic traits got worse for you as your children got older? Or better?

I have a 3.5 year old child with severe autism. In the last year he's got better with language, but more rigid in his routines and behaviours. Sometimes he 'looks' more autistic, has started stimming more.

He's happy most of the time, but getting more frustrated as the gap between him and his peers widens. I have to adjust too, everyone is different.

I just wondered about other peoples experience? A lot of people say that there are particularly hard times around teenage hood, and the transition to adult life. Or that someone 'mild' has then hit a wall at secondary school. Is it common for children to start stimming more? Or just choose not to speak?
