I took dd to London on Thursday
3 tubes there and 3 back.
We went to the science museum (a must for kids with sensory problems, so much to touch, see etc)
I cannot believe I was brave enough to do it tbh
I shocked myself but kept calm and I am so proud of dd she was an absolute star!
For me it is a huge step as this time last year I found it hard to take her to the local sweet shop and here I am going to London!
I can actually say I am enjoying being a mum which for so long I haven't
Don't get me wrong I know we will have hard times again but they seem to be outweighed by the good at the moment and I just love the relationship I am building up with dd which we never could have before.
I think I am getting into practice for our trip to Disney in 2 weeks eeekkkkk

How fab.......Im not familiar with what dx your daughter has but I find myself avioding taking my ds to places. Not becuase of his behaviour (hes 14 months old)want people staring, its not that Im ashamed by him but Id rather save myself the pain.

I cant say that right now I dont feel like a mum but more of a nurse, I look forward to the day when I can start feeling like more of a mum to my ds.

Well done, BH!
SO glad you had a lovely time.

Saturn74 · 06/01/2007 14:09

lourobert, do you have anyone to help you out with looking after your son?

lourobert · 06/01/2007 15:15

HC- Yes I do, Im very lucky that way...!!

Saturn74 · 06/01/2007 15:18

That's good.
I'm not aware of your situation, and I'm not prying - just wanted to know that you are OK, IYSWIM?

lourobert · 06/01/2007 15:26

It wasnt taken as though you were prying at all. Im lucky in that I have family close by who adore my ds almost as much as I do. Its jsut that sometimes I wish I could get a break from having to give my son medication and do his physio and take him to all his appointments....iyswim!

Just looking forward ot the same we can spend some qaulity time together other than in a hospital!

Lovely BH

Would love to take sam one day, but its such a journey- about 3 hours on the coach just to get to the tube.

glad for you

SpookyMadMummy · 06/01/2007 16:07

Thats fantastic! Glad you had a lovely time!

blossomhill · 06/01/2007 21:14

I think my attitude changing has helped her loads too.
The whole of christmas has been fantastic. Sorry but have to brag again.
This is the little girl who hated cuddles, etc. Turned to her older brother who she adores and said "db not only do i love you as a brother but you are my best friend too". Then proceeded to go up and kiss and hug him. Moving moment I have to say!
Dd is 7 with Aspergers & Adhd.
