Pls tell me about your Sensory children?!

Just wondering what bothers your little ones and to what extremes? What unusual behaviours do they exhibit?

Looks like our little one may have some sensory issues, as we suspected for a while.

Also, we are contemplating what to do for her bday party?!! What do u do? I know she would like one but she does often struggle with them. She is 4, almost 5.

If she can cope, why not just invite one or two friends and go swimming or bowling or to see a movie? Big parties always distressed my DS (now 11yrs).
He doesn't like bright lights and too many crowds where people are all talking. He also doesn't like eating in front of people of where there are strong food and drink smells that makes him anxious.

Other sensory issues include teeth brushing (that can be helped by gently brushing with no paste the cheeks and tongue before brushing with paste), hair cutting and uncomfortable clothing with hoods and seams.

She does seem OK with clothes and tooth brushing. She does prefer softer fabrics and will often take socks off at home or not wear many clothes.

She licks objects, me or herself in poss anxious/excited situations and removes clothes. I have seen her stuff things in her mouth and chew. She is very sensitive to certain noises and does seem to sometimes struggle in crowds. She sniffs things sometimes...don't ask!! She is very aware of sudden or flashing lights and they can make her nervous. Fussy eater! Seems to be quite sensitive to smells. It seems she does have some sensory struggles??? but I am aware it can be a lot more severe.
