why would my son not want me to give to charity?

Weve had huge meltdowns today and i was bagging clothes up for charity and my son kicked off saying dont give the stuff to charity the children are only going to die!

Im preplexed! anyone any ideas?

Were the clothes his old ones?
My DD gets extremely anxious about me getting rid of any of her belongings, even clothes that don't fit or toys she hasn't played with for years.
