Can you let me know if you are happy with your dyslexia support (mainstream private or public)?

Hi,

Just looking for some advice on the level of support and also your level of happiness in regard to your school catering for your childs dyslexia.

I'm looking for a good school recommendation (year 4). London, Surrey or weekly boarding

Hi, I can only speak from personal experience, but I think it depends on the level of severity. My son has severe literacy and numeracy issues (cognitively able) but to the point he can not access curriculum without reader/scribe. He attends a specialist independent school through necessity rather than choice. He has a statement. You probably need to view some schools, talk to them, do your research - you know your child best. If you are looking for a more specialist setting, even if you are funding yourself, you will need an ed psyc report or similar at the very least.

thanks Carrot. Yes I have a dyslexic son as well at a specialist school that is truly amazing!

My daughter on the other hand doesn't seem to be as needy as he is and she has the reports etc. I'd just like to find a school that is able to nurture her and bring out the best.
