Advice on Ehc plan wording

I have just received my ds draft ehc plan. I am not sure is the wording is strong enough, many of the outcomes in section f starts with
"will benefit from", " should be", "could" "is likely to benefit from" "access to"

Does anyone else have this type of wording in their plans or know if this type of wording is acceptable.

No, it definitely isn't. Have a look at paragraph 9.69 of the Code of Practice, particularly the bit about section F - it makes it very clear that wording should be detailed and quantified, and where appropriate things like details of the qualifications of the people providing support should be specified.

If you're anywhere in or close to the South, it would be well worth booking an advice session with SOS SEN so that one of their people can go through the draft with you.

Was going to say SOS Sen too. If you have the money there is another group who can look at your plan and make comments on. Not sure of the cost.

I think its really important not to sign it until it's watertight.

Thank you GruntledOne I have booked a workshop with sen sos and have just noticed that they have referred to a program with a professional without naming who and how often. I think it will contain lots of errors to a professional eye so best to get it checked before I agree.

You are right to be worried about vague language! It will be too easy for the provision to be considered optional!

2boysnamedR did you have another group to suggest to pay to look at draft EHCP, or was 'educational equility' it? Just curious because I think that we will soon be in the same boat.

Bunting - educational equality is who I thinking of for reading the ehcp. They are growing a good reputation and reduce fees depending on personal circumstances. I haven't used them myself - they just seem very good and I don't know anyone else who offers that detail.

Thank you for all replying, I have been incontact with both IPSEA and Educational Equality. Both will check ehcp for error, educational equality seem to offer a better service for £40 they will fine tooth comb the plan and report back areas they would recommend to be changed in writting. Which I will be taking to the la and request the necessary changes. Then see what happens from there.

Thanks for updating- wow that's a really good price. I know what I'm going to do if my toddler ever gets his ehcp!
