5 years, blimey, 5 years!
5 years tonight I had just downed a whole bottle of castor oil and was cuddled up on sofa with D watching a DVD. Little did I know what twists and turns our lives were about to take.
At 3.57am - 6.5 hours time - I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She had huge saucer eyes, black as black. I knew straight away she had Down's syndrome. Can't put into words the shock but you all can imagine a bit I know.
No phonecalls made to friends and family, a lot of tears and then shock sent us numb and we both managed to sleep.
5 years on.
My little Lottie. God what a character! What a fiesty, funny, strongwilled, argumentative, sweet, loving, naughty, giving little bundle of joy she is. God she really is the most special gorgeous little girl, she really, really is.
Never thought she'd still not be walking, but we are getting there, slowly but surely. Never thought a lot of things.
Can't believe I'm a mum, can't believe i'm a mum to a 5 year old, can't believe i have 2 girls, that I have D in my life - still (! , can't believe I'm a mum to a girl who has Down's syndrome, can't believe how lucky I am.
Happy Birthday Lotbags. Thanks you for being you, thank you for being you.
