My DS1 has mild dyslexia, mild dyspraxia and atypical autism. Basically he finds many things a challenge but his needs are not that severe.
So we have a selection of secondary schools around us, all of which seem fine with pros and cons and I don't know which would be best so was looking for some insight
School 1 - Very small (less than 500 pupils), good results, an early bus ride away, his best friends may not go, SENCo seems nice, a small room for pupils who need more support - behaviour and learning
School 2 - Very large (about 1500), results are fine, long walk away, lots of his class mates will go (although he does not get on with some of them), large SEN department with lots of SEN provision
or do I look at a grammar - his maths and non verbal skills are very good and he would not have problems with these areas of 11+ but I am not sure if his scores in these areas would be enough to compensate for the poor English score. The school has some pupils with SpLD but a very small number. They do provide focus groups for pupils for whom English is not their strength
In many ways the choice is between large/near/lots of SEN provision and small/further away/less SEN provision
Any comments gratefully received
