Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Can anyone recommend ear defenders, preferably inner ear?

Hi my daughter is 10 years old but would need a small adult size. She has very sensitive hearing, possibly due to ASD. She complains that the class room, play ground etc is too noisy. I've talked to her about ear defenders but she flatly says no, giving no reason. I think it might be that she doesn't want to look different or attract attention.

I've had a look on Amazon, but there are so many and I'm not sure which would be the most appropriate? She needs to be able to hear who ever it is who's talking to her but to muffle out some of the background noise.

Thanks. Smile

Theres a condition called hypercusiss that goes hand in hand with autism.

I use quies earplugs, they work very well.
You squeeze them and pop them in and they block loads of noise and take the edge off loud noises.
I did buy some cheap yellow and pink ones on Amazon, they work but are far more fiddly to get in your ears properly.
