The keen eyes of autism ....

Wanted to share a lovely picture with you all. We had a trip to Edinburgh Zoo yesterday. We were standing next to a big grassed area (grass, clover, weeds, flowers, soil).

Dd looked down and said: there's a 4 leaf clover there.
Me: oh I doubt it, they're very rare.
Dd: Can I go on the grass and see?
Me: Course you can.
Dd (10 seconds later): See, I told you it was a 4 leaf clover.
Me: Shock

I'm convinced it was the keen eye of autism that allowed her to see it when she glanced down at the grass. We're both Shock and Grin about it. I LOVE moments like this.

I agree polter Grin
It made up for a bit of a testing day I can tell you Wink

She literally looked down at the grass full of clover and saw it within seconds! I don't think she appreciates that in your lifetime most people will NEVER find one of these. I absolutely LOVE nature like this. We love rainbows, wild rabbits, squirrels etc. A bloomin 4 leaf clover ... I'm still on a high! Blush

Frazzled. I just love your story. Amazing to spot that. You must feel so proud Smile it's the little things Star

My DS loves nature in some ways but really has no interest in animals. I so wish he did as dh and I love animals, but he knows what he likes and what he doesnt!

frazzledbutcalm · 01/09/2015 21:27

I haven't really thought of her ability to find it as such tbh, I just love the fact that she's found an actual 4 leaf clover Grin Blush

I thought it must be a lie and actually not even one existed!!! Nice to believe again Smile

frazzledbutcalm · 02/09/2015 09:32

stars ... I found one when I was about 10 or 11. I knew I'd never find one again in my life... Dd has found one aged 12. It's just lovely. I think it's one of those things people don't believe until they actually find it/see it 'in the flesh'. I was hoping to press it and frame it but it wilted before we got home Sad

You must have the luck of the clover in your family frazzled ????????

frazzledbutcalm · 02/09/2015 12:18
Grin

When I found mine all those years ago it meant nothing to me. As a child you don't appreciate the rarity - as displayed in my dc faces at the zoo. They looked at me very Hmm

I have found loads of four leaf clovers in my life. I dont have autism, but my sons do, and i have a weird kind of eyesight thats excellent at scanning for irregularities like that

Branleuse · 02/09/2015 12:30

or i have some weird kind of girl autism, which is possible

frazzledbutcalm · 02/09/2015 12:36

Probably a bit of both bran Wink

lol yeah I know, but i was told I didnt have autism, but I do have loads of the stuff that goes with autism, sensory stuff etc, and as i said, my kids have autism, and a few others in my family, so the genes are there, but specialists say i dont have it.
Can pick 4 leaf clovers out, and fossils on a beach really easily though compared to loads of people
