Can anyone recommend a small independent secondary school in Surrey or surrounding areas that may be open-minded enough to consider a bright boy with PDA? He is currently in Year 5 at a mainstream state primary and is doing very well with 1-1 support. He large

Sorry posted too soon. We have been advised he won't cope in a large mainstream secondary school which are the only options we have nearby so want to consider a small private school. We have looked into specialist schools but haven't found one we think is right for him. We would just like to find somewhere that won't be frightened off by his diagnosis. Can anyone help?

Do you want an independent specialist school? Or just an independent school???

Thank you for replying. At this stage we want to consider a small independent mainstream school rather than specialist school.

Worth having a look at Halliford School www.hallifordschool.co.uk

I have a Y6 DS with Aspergers/ADHD and he is going here in September, so I can't comment on it in terms of having a child there (yet!) but certainly in terms of being small, nurturing and supportive of SEN (have a look at their learning support page under 'Academic') it has a good reputation locally and we very much feel it is the best option for our DS.

More House is a specialist independent school in Surrey which may be worth a look too.

Thank you. I will look into Halliford.
Unfortunately More House have already said no.

There's riverston school.

They are not specialist but have a good pastoral care of kids on the spectrum, I've heard.

Hi, this list is from a long time ago but I wondered which school you ended up going to? I have a bright boy in Year 5 with ADHD and possible PDA that needs support and a nurturing environment. Thanks
