Could my life get anymore like eastenders?

Even I can't belive my life some days.

Ds3 who is a non verbal pot of Tazmainian devil mischief with a sparky new dx of asd ( imagine taz on red bull ) is getting discresionary 1:1 funding.

Guess how much 1:1 he gets?....

None

A investigation has started now.

Think of a number between piss poor and crap, times it by imcopitence and add some negligence and that's the sum total of both my boys provision.

Permission to face plant into a bucket of wine......

Who's started the investigation? If the LA is giving the school funding for 1:1 and they're not using it for that purpose, I hope they're making a fuss.

The school gets the funding, not the child. That's law. If you want the chikd to get it it has to be written into a EHCP but even then how will you KNOW if it isn't?

So sorry.

Yeah star is right, sen funding is not ring fenced so can be spent painting the staff room if that is what the HT chooses to do with it

Dd3's old school had the most amazing staffroom ever but she never saw any of the funding that was alledgedly delegated to support her !!

He's three so nobehc yet ( in my county they don't need ehcp for 1:1 or special nursery setting). The 1:1 is specifically for him as it's a private nursery. Yes the LA are looking into it. I didn't instigate anything ( this time) it all came to head when looking into the ISP targets. None have been started after six months. When asking why, it came down to ratios and staffing - but the 1:1 was for his own staff member which clearly wasn't happening if they could do any 1:1 because of the ratios needed in his age group

I don't know if people know my story - I am in my third appeal for his brothers statement so I'm not getting involved with asking for a ech this time. He has better chances if early years ask for it as parents are routinely fought which has taken me three years.

It's easier to win an appeal before they get into school. That is because the school can't lie convincingly yet and EY practitioners haven't develop the skills as it isn't routine and because whilst they can be defensive they are less likely than teachers to want to do anything to scupper the life-chances of a small child for some reason.

Not that I'm saying you should. YOu quite clearly have considerable demands on your time already.

He has passed one panel for the asd preschool so far without my help.

It's just working better for me being hands off. He either gets into this asd pre school his pead and slt wants him or he goes to my other sons ms school.

Either way I think he will win as he's a handful with needs that can't be brushed aside.

I told the head of my sons school that ds3 has asd and will be in doorstep next year. The head said they would get him a ech before he started.

He can crack on. I'm on the la dartboard. There's also plan with me. So far the plan for ds3 is working. I'm not pushing anything. The people who need to are doing the leg work which is good as god knows no one ever listened about his brother.

If it goes wrong I will be there. I always have their backs. I just know this system to well now. It's a game, I'm not showing my hand till I have to

I have no advice re statements and 1:1 because I've not been there but am suitable on your behalf he's not getting what LA are presumably paying for if they are investigating it?

As an aside I use to describe my DS as the Tasmanian devil on speed!

Good luck. I know of a friend who on number 3 was so exhausted that she couldn't be bothered. Acting in denial brought out the 'outreach' and a million provisions. She wasn't in denial, she just hadn't any expectations and wasn't going to fight any more. They literally threw stuff at her.

It makes professionals feel worthwhile sometimes, to implement their 'try to engage with parents' plan. That's what they think their job is often, and so run in the opposite direction when a parent wants to engage with THEM.
