Irrationally upset by a photo on FB.

A friend has shared this photo on FB. She knows what's going on, that ds will attack us, swear, spit and punch at us. She knows what we're going through trying to get a diagnosis and trying to get some understanding from anyone.
We're not allowing him to do any of this. I know she's just sharing some crappy photo, but it feels like it's aimed at me and I feel judged and crap.

I keep leaving but then come back because it's the only way I keep in touch with some people.
I'll be hiding her though.

I know it's nonsense, and I can usually ignore it but tonight it's floored me.

What that thing says is bollocks for nt kids, and anyone in fact.

If your "friend's" dcs have never been allowed to be disrespectful to their parents eg when the dsc are tired or overwrought, then your "friend" would be a poor parent.

The difference for a child who is not nt is that they are overwrought and tired etc a lot more of the time.

Your "friend" is a big fool and this sort of rubbish will come back and bite her in the arse.

What a stupid notice. I suspect I would have a very rude response if it came up on my Facebook page. Does your "friend" feel that the children of Mick Philpot and Fred Phelps have to respect their parents and that they won't have true respect for anyone unless they do?

Bless you. An autistic child is not being 'disrespectful' anyway. They just struggle. You know that and so does your partner, family etc so who cares what others think??

People are ignorant. I admit myself, that I knew little about autism until my son started showing signs.

I have a friend who is very clueless. She doesn't understand my son at all. Has often made comments about how doctors are too quick to diagnosis autism etc. I feel like screaming in her face that it takes months or years to get a diagnosis with all sorts of professionals, observations and meetings as you probably know. We don't really meet up anymore due to this. As my son is 'a bit different' as he tried to get in her pet rabbits cage, climbed on top of her daughters outside toys rather oddly rather than sitting on them correctly, spent half an hour in her bathroom washing his hands repeatedly, got into a bucket full of water fully dresses and just being a monkey lol while her daughter played happily with her toys.

I don't think people genuinely believe of live by the soundbites that get banded around facebook often.

Also, there is a difference between being allowed to be disrespectful, and having a disability.

Finally, why is it the parents responsibility alone to instil respect? When schools and community undermine their attempts at every turn it is an impossible job, especially with a child who suffers majorly with anxiety.

It is very rare for a parent to 'allow' disrespect in this regard.

Just ignore it.

I gets easier to just ignore and switch off mentally to some people.

I had a friend who shared a link detailing how adhd medication was lazy parenting and poison to children when all they needed was over priced vitamins. She knew I was considering meds at this point after two years of a diet vitamin and exercise regime which made no bastarding difference.

I unfollowed her. I was absolutely raging.

As if they have any fucking understanding how hard it really is.
