Hi, has anyone got any advice as I am getting a bit desperate. We have been given quick release and slow release melatonin for dd2, but when we collected it from the hospital we were only given a represcription for the quick release. The quick release works (she is asleep within and hour!!!!) but the slow release does not get her through the night (multiple waking after midnight still). I was chatting to a friend (hospital doctor) who said is was likely they the admin had just missed the second prescription and as dd is only on 5mg and can go up to 12mg for her age/height/weight I would like to up her through the night dose and try to keep it going for much longer then one month.

BUT getting hold of the paed is impossible. I have left answering machine messages and messages with her secretary but no call back yet. Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas. I keep ringing and getting nothing. I don't want to waste their time and I know how busy they are but going to run out soon and I'm slightly desperate :-s

Any help hugely appreciated :-)

As ringing hasn't worked so far I would send a letter. You could also ask her secretary if the Paed has an email address you could contact her on.

Ring switch at the hospital and explain you have tried to get hold of Dr X's secretary and left messages but no one has called you back. The situation now can't wait, is there another way to speak with Dr x, another Paeds secretary, for example?

Is there a email for the pead? Or go to your gp as they can also write to the pead.

My older ds pead never gets back to me. I only see her once a year. After a years wait I will have to tell her face to face none of the four referrals she put in for when through, I could only chase up the two mist urgent so she's wasted a year

Thanks :-) I phoned the sec said there was no email but she did say it was urgent because of the time it takes to get the melatonin so she would call back within a couple of days if she could Hmm but will keep on now - clearly this isn't an easy process but Sad
Thank you x

Does your hospital have a PaLS service - patient liaison? I find them very helpful and they've helped me contact peads several times
