We are discussing with my 14 year old son the possibility of asking for a formal referral/testing for Aspergers.
We had an initial referral to CAHMS about 4 years ago and at that time we didn't go forward for full testing as they said they felt it would be borderline and he didn't by that time have any issues we felt that needed addressed.
Now he is really struggling with social anxiety and is feeling frustrated, we have tried to get support via school for about 2 years on and off and have got nowhere and we are at the point where we are thinking that one way or another it might be helpful to pursue further investigation to see what we can do to help and support him.
We feel though that at 14 it is really as much up to him as it is for us to guide him. I'd like to take him through some good info on what Aspergers means that is appropriate for him. I've looked at The National Autistic Society one and whilst it's okay for me, the Aspergers part really takes you through the differences between that and Autism and I'd rather have something a bit more straightforward.
Has anyone come across anything that might be good?
