Asking for a friend - Can school force a child to to be educated below his actual school year?
Friends DS has a statement with 1:2 support in a unit. Spends most day in mainstream (y3) with Lsa support and has full time 1:1 (no other y3 with Sen with whom he could share LSA) - so he is getting more than statement stipulates.
unit is having another child (y2) coming in in May and not enough staff to support both children in mainstream. School wants to put friends DS into year 2 where he is to share the Lsa with the new child.
the 1:2 support would be in line with statement but can they just educate him out of year group?
