Earmuffs for noise sensation

DD is very very senstive to noise, if she hears loud music or anything noisy she starts crying and putting her hands over her ears. (we and paed suspect ASD) i want to get her something to drown out the noise as we are going to Legoland this weekend and the thought of it makes me feel nervous for her already.

DS cant wait to go to legoland, its an obsession of his, i have heard that we should be able to get an exit pass for him as he has AS so am going to phone them.

Does anyone know of anywhere that stocks earmuffs or something similar or what you use with your child who has sensitivity to noise?

Hi Jenk1 my daughter has the same problem ,we use ear muffs all the time for her and when she is feeling it bad she uses them around the house too i get mine from Claires i get a load in this time of year they are £5.00 a pair hth

Dont know about the earmuffs although would be interested too as DS is noise sensitive. (AS)
Are you going to the fireworks at Legoland-we are, and they are pretty noisy! (Have been for the last couple of years)
You can get an exit pass. One carer also gets in free. You just need to take a piece of documentation stating the Dx.

My ds is also noise sensitive. He likes looking at fireworks but puts his hands in his ears after a while.

Hope u don't me asking but what is an "exit pass" at legoland. DS has a diagnosis of AS - would he be able to get one do you know?

caroline3- an exit pass means that in effect you jump the queue as children with ASD dont understand the concept of queing up, my DS has AS and i have phoned legoland and they told me to either bring the DLA letter or a letter with his dx on it.

Tiggiwinkle-i didnt know about the fireworks thanks for mentioning that, its a big NOOOOOOOOOO with DS, if we took him to that we,d end up coming home straight away, he hates fireworks with a vengeance and at night time he runs around the house checking all windows and curtains and doors are shut to drown out the noise of them, so no wont be going, interestingly i have AS but fireworks have never affected me in the same way, i quite like them, but little noises get to me whereas DS is not bothered.

Ds1 is similar to dh in that they both like headphones that are playing music quietly to block out the noises that annoy them.

It's not ideal though because it's hard getting ds1's attention at the best of times. It's even worse when he has his enormous headphones on.

Jenk-If you leave by about 6 you should be OK and miss the fireworks I think!
Dont forget about the free entry for one carer-I did not know about that until I got an email from their customer sevices when I enquired about the exit pass.

DS2 uses ear defenders; you can get them from builders suppliers but found some smallish ones on ebay, (seller DRIV'N). They've been great as he's v noise-sensitive and especially scared of thunder. He puts them on whenever it's even cloudy now just in case, but really comforting for him!

Just browsing and saw this thread - My dd is massively noise sensitive and is managing not to sleep at all at the new childminders due to noise (mainly the phone/other children) Currently being tested for all sorts but she is only 12 months so the ear muffs you can buy in the shops are too big I would have thought - Any suggestions?

Hi, my son, same, some noises really get him going, one of the worst; a child 's crying, but also lots of other noises, we use earplugs, although sometimes can't be sure how efficient they are or if I put them in properly, but they seem to re-assure him. When I travel with him, we take portable cd-player with headphones, that's really great. Being a boy pink ear-muffs are a no go area LOL .
I'd love to take him to Legoland as he loves Legos, so if you could tell about your experience that'd be great, I'm dreading him seeing the toyshop there though, those things aren't cheap....

oh heck.....forgot about the toyshop, think ill let DH take them in then i can blame him for the expense!!!
