my son is in an indie school won at tribunal - at the year 6 AR in dec LA wouldn't comment on at all about year 7 and said it would need to be 'discussed' still seen no paperwork yet from the AR from the school.

just wondered if everyone else has their year 7 places all sorted out? im expecting something yucky is going to happen.....

hmmmmm post 6 argument - didn't think about that one but yes a very good point... hope he will stay at current SS as has post 16 - at year 9 he is still on NC level 1..... he has made no real progress since he was 5 years old

at this stage there are only 2 of us with draft EHCP transfer plans in county and both are dire........ according to PP who has seen both of them.also met with the independent support people last week and showed them the draft and they were also appalled so not just me!

The thing is, I work in a part of government widely regarded as the most dysfunctional in the UK

Ugger, if I PM-d you my guess, would you tell me if I'm warm or cold? (DOI: also a public sector worker in a dysfunctional system...)

ouryve · 16/01/2015 16:09

Talking of dysfunctional bureaucratic organisations, shall we put bets on when the likes of ATOS end up being tasked with these formal SEN assessments?

The day that happens is the day my badger-led revolution starts, ourvye. But a crisp, LA-supplied Direct Payments tenner says it'll kick off in May 2017, with a drone from Serco operating a laptop with a reinforced set of ctrl, C and V keys...

ouryve · 16/01/2015 17:23

Nah. It'll take them until 2018 to order in the laptops.

uggerthebugger · 16/01/2015 17:41

About the same time my LA Direct Payments tenner will get here! Grin

I'd imagine LB Barnet have already identified a contractor. Aren't they in the middle of abolishing all internal non-statutory posts?

MeirAyaAlibi · 16/01/2015 19:44

Ouryve, that's prophetic. What a truly depressing thought.

The Great British Public will definitely support us if they think it'll help the badgers, though....

oh good god this is going from bad to worse - emailed the EHCP officer and made some comments - one was that the EP report wasn't specified nor quantified.

then PP said I should arrange a meeting to discuss it as another parent had done this and then the plan had been amended - so I emailed her and asked for a meeting - she then forwards my email asking for a meeting to the EP??? who then emails me to say he will meet with me and he promptly copies in most of the bods in the LA.

so looks like im going to have to face him head on and ask why its not specified nor quantified - yikes - really don't want to do this right now with the tribunal so close...... why couldn't the blooming EHCP officer meet with me like she did with everyone else - why am I so special that I have the EP to deal with..........

You will be fine bjk! You have your fighting head on already! And you are right it should be specified and quantified otherwise how can the ehcp bods possibly know what to write in what box!!

Did the EP even meet your child? The last LAEP report I received was written by an EP that hasnt even met my child!!

I dispair!! Angry

MeirAyaAlibi · 17/01/2015 01:41

Write an agenda for the EP meeting. Send to everyone on their giant email list. Put a few extra names on of your own. Ask all the cc people to add in what items they feel ought to be discussed. Enclose the guidelines about quantifying & specifying.

Update the agenda, circulate again, book meeting (at your convenience- taking your various tribunals into account).

If the meeting goes ahead, have someone with you taking minutes. It may be called off at the last minute- if it's booked as a bullying opportunity, it'll get cancelled when they see it's strictly business. If no meeting takes place, ask for a written response to your agenda items.

Could it be that this EP is one of the good guys? There are a few who are very cross about being told they're not allowed to do the job properly.

They might well insist on meeting the parent, whilst copying the LA world in on a relevant complaint.

More likely it's LA deviousness though

bjkmummy · 17/01/2015 08:12

you know I do actually like the EP - I think he is a good guy but after so many years hes been worn down I guess. at my DS tribunal he sat on the fence and when asked by the panel about the dirty trick the LA had just played mid tribunal hearing about what he knew about it he sat there and said 'I couldn't possibly comment' which said it all!

I think he does believe that DD does need a statement not a NIL but hes caught in the crossfire. the LA keep saying her case was discussed but when her file from the LA came there is no record of this discussion and the EP was part of it. as we stand today they haven't moved to call him to this tribunal but there is time yet so it does make you wonder if he is refusing to put himself in the firing line as he probably knows the truth and how he would argue she doesn't need a statement will be difficult and his assessment of her was dire and in his report where he took the scores of our indie reports he has skewed the results - I asked for his report then to be amended especially as he was using my tests and they refused saying they didn't have to cos a NIL had been issued - and yes I do have that in writing and it has gone into the bundle. oddly its the only letter the LA put into their bundle as well cos they clearly think they are absolutely right - dear god help them when the panel reads that letter

Ooooh. See if you can get a meeting with him 1 to 1 since that is what they suggested.
Find out why he does not comply with the spec/quant or at the very least minimum needed
Minute the answer - confirm in email, put in as evidence to your excessive bundle...

And remember you can always get an order requiring him to appear at Tribunal

Even if he says 'I couldn't possibly comment' it will be a useful addition....
