Next stage after questionaires for aspergers diagnosis

My son is 6.5 and for a long time we have presumed that he has aspergers he was referred in reception but then seemed to improve a great deal in year 1, so the paediatrician tried to convince me that he was NT and just a little quirky- although I think deep down I knew that there was something. The paediatrician therefore decided not to refer him on for the next stage of ASD diagnosis. This time last year everything was really good his obsessions where not so obsessional, his logic and black and whiteness didn't seem to be getting him into as much trouble as previously and there was very little anxciousness. Fast forward a year and things are getting bad the worst they have ever been, his anxiety is on a whole new level and family members are finding him hard to cope with. One problem we have is that he loves and adores school and his teacher is just amazing and he feels so comfortable with her ( his teacher was my DD's teacher for 2 years before she was his teacher!!) she sees very little anxiety or meltdowns as she knows the triggers and she is on it like a shot. Because he is no problem at school the SENCO said it would be hard to refer him but his teacher knows they are there so she is going to help him get him re referred. First time round we did the questionaires at home and school and he was high scoring with both of these and than as I said I was fobbed off and probably wanting to believe that maybe he was NT. Anyway just wanted to know what the next stage for diagnosis is after the questionaires- hoping as we have already done these we can bypass them and go forward to the next stage!! Many thanks

We had questionnaires with dd. Over a year later I've just won my fight to get the assessment process started properly via ADOS! We were told dd was fine after the questionnaires, we really had to push and be forceful as they were ready to strike dd off. We haven't been offered SALT or OT. But I'm pushing for these after talking on other threads and getting hugely helpful information from polter and friends Wink
