but the school still havent informed me about it.He told me last night when we were having a chat about his day. I rang the school today and asked what had happened and was told the dep head would ring me to explain, as my mother was picking up ds1 and ds2 today whilst i took dd to doctors and i wouldnt be able to see anyone at picking up time, but i didnt get a call. If ds hadnt told me himself i would still be none the wiser. Im so angry

oh dear, what happened, did he come back of his own accord? Surprised they haven't rung you back, you need to know what happened, not surprised you're angry.

They had to go and find him, he was hiding down the road .Poor lamb wanted to come home cos hed be punched in the mouth, but he knew i wouldnt be home as it was my birthday.Apparently they got his lsa to go and calm him down and let him do art for an hour til he felt happy to go back into class (he made me a lovely card with a car on ). ive had a few run ins with the schol over there lack of understanding of sons asd etc and the bullying he suffers, so think perhaps they were hoping to smooth things over and were keeping there fingers crossed i didnt find out

who punched him in the mouth?

A friend's son (ASD) did the same- left school and walked home crossing several main roads. It's very worrying. Can you go early and insist you talk to someone before pick up time. You need to know what happened it's very serious.

How old is ds Sue? Just wondering as i worked in a primary school and security was dreadful.

suedenley · 06/10/2006 14:47

It was a boy in ds year group who punched him. DS says he fought back then the stress was obviously too much and he ran away to escape his frustration, but i had warned the head that his running was a possibility as he has said he will run away from school if it doesnt improve for him. They didnt take any notice and now he has done it and they are brushing it under the carpet. I am getting so angry now they have failed in there duty of care to my son. Its just lucky he didnt run into the road or something Im going down there now and will let you know what happens.

Appalling behaviour by the school - they are failing your son miserably here. My guess is that they just cannot cope with him. To my mind no statement (which btw is legally binding) equals no support of any real value.

Have you written to the LEA re a Statement?.

If you intend to remove him from this school I would seek a Statement in any event. You will need one for any new school he attends.

Hope your meeting with school went well - has any action been taken against the perpatrator?.
