Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

Anyone use Special kids in the uk website or know about it?

I was looking at it and to register and you have to give a lot of your personal details more so than any other site. It asks for your kids names and dates of birth and your address and whats wrong with your child. i was wondering does anyone know why they need so many details? I was thinking about joining it.

I joined a couple of months ago, after a recommendation on this forum, and I think its a brilliant site!

The reason they ask you so many questions are:

a) Name/Address - you get sent a Welcome Pack with loads of info, e.g you and your childrens rights, what benefits you may be entitled to, other services you may find helpful, a car sticker, etc

b) Info regarding your child - they have a Welcome and Introduction forum where they put down brief details of you and your child (first names, your user name, age of child and their condition).

I've only posted a couple of times but they are really friendly and helpful

I use it too, there's some very knowledgeable posters on there. When you join they post a thread introducing and welcoming you, but they use your real names (not surnames), however if you asked them not to I'm sure they'd oblige.
