In that article they do mention a child Aba made no difference to

One child appears to have improved massively with ABA while another had no changes. Just shows how complicated it is, but there is some solid research in there. It's not selling or advocating anything.

There is a Q&A on 5 August with an ABA consultant I think, but not sure how that works.

If you read further, you will see that a study found that about 9% of children were "cured" after about 20 years - i.e. they no longer met the criteria for autism diagnosis.

Fascinating article. I'm interested in reading what people here think about it before I forward it to several friends who are mums of children with autism.

Pink that is a true comment , I saw the article in an online group I'm in , a lot of posters are from the states where it is used a lot in schools , one poster said anecdotally one group do brilliantly with Aba , one group make no progress and one group respond badly

I read a bit but it annoyed me at the start (I mean once I got past the title which also grated); the first child was diagnosed a 'few months' after two years old, they then tried everything... X, y, z, nothing made a difference and by this time he was 3! I expected her to say 7 or 8 at least!

It's also true we can't all homeschool , tbh I would be dreadful at it

It does show how little is know about autism and more research needs doing.

Again polter it wAs mentioned in the discussion I read that it seemed to be suppression not cure , the article also seemed to imy children with very severe autism which continues for years don't make these leaps

It's not suppression it's more redirecting to something equally satisfying but socially accepted.

You do know that many ABA consultants work with OTs.
