Anyone's DC off to board as SS this September?

DS 10 is off to start at his Special School in 6 weeks time. He will board (board).

I am thrilled he will be getting the education he needs and deserves but feel daunted about him boarding. But there was no other option.

Just wondering if other parents are facing the same change in September and how you and your DC are feeling.

Opps should have read

Board (as a full boarder).

DS (also aged 10) is going to be a flexi boarder for the first time in September. He's been a day pupil at the school for the last year.

He is very excited about boarding as he loves his school and has really settled in after a horrendous time at his previous mainstream school, followed by a year of home ed. In fact he is so excited that he wants to go as a full boarder but I'm he's not ready for that yet.

This was after him for years absolutely refusing to board at any time in his future - his original mainstream school was a day/boarding school so he saw his friends' older siblings starting to board at roughly the same age he is now. So was very familiar with the boarding "concept" from a very young age.

It is fantastic that his new school is such the right setting for him that he actively wants to board.

Good luck with your DS's arrangements
