Was searching for something else and came across this news article where a woman who was 35 weeks pregnant was offerend a termination because her baby had Down syndrome!!

Also learnt that in 2004 900 babies with ds were terminated....

Eidsvold ... I know - it makes me sad too.
I watched a FANTASTIC program the other week about a young couple both with DS. It was such a heartwarming interview with home video clips of their life and their wedding. They were well grounded, articulate, bright and ABLE young people ....
I thought of you when I watched it (and Thomcat) and thought of your lovely DDs ... it is understandable that such a story has upset you so much.

absolute evil eidsvold but this horrid world we live in where people are willing to do this so they can have NT child when our children are even more special as what they can achive means so much more to us

oh ghosty - we have two couples with down syndrome who have married here in the last year - lovely weddings and such a delight to meet both couples.

I can't understand it. Surely thats just murder. A baby can survive at that age. I wouldn't like to be the doctor doing that operation, how could they live with themselves? I feel sick!

I showed my mum this yesterday and she said it made her feel sick she just couldnt understand it and this is from my mum who was prepared to abort a 15 week old foetus with CF(long story) But 35 weeks is something. i really think people are not aware there is no cut off point. I have my Mother ranting 'something must be done'
