.... and to give encouragement to those going through exclusions at the moment.
For those who don't know the background ds1 hit major problems in Year 4 and after a series of fixed term exclusions was permanently excluded for violent behaviour towards staff in the middle of Year 5. A managed move to another mainstream school failed after he absconded from the school grounds on two occasions & he was then placed in an EBD school where he has spent all of Year 6.
Anyway, received his report yesterday and thought I would share a couple of lines:
Comment from teacher: "I can do nothing but smile at the progress this wonderful boy has made"
Comment from HT "The progress you have made this year, both academically and socially, has been phenomenal".
ds1, of course, is dwelling on the fact that he got a lower grade than he expected in writing but both his parents are beaming. It just goes to show what a difference appropriate support can make.
