No more statements from September 2014 WTF is going on??

Just that really I'm so confused the senco at my ds nurserys where he's starting this sept couldn't tell me what will happen instead. Getting really worried that he won't be given the right support :s

However, what you have been told is incorrect. Firstly, if you feel your child needs statement you need to go directly to IPSEA website, and find the model letter to send to your LA. You have until the 31st August to do it on the current system (but the earlier the better).

After September those who have Statements will continue to have them but will slowly be transitioned onto Education, Health and Care Plans, which are supposed to be similar to statements and are likely to be (for most parts) the same children who have them as have statements.

You will need to apply for one of those from Sept 14 if you haven't applied for a statement.

There are lots of good reasons to apply under the old system however.
