DD starting special secondary school - will she get transport?

DD is starting a special secondary school in September, she has a statement. When I got the revised statement with her new school in it said nothing about transport. Does this mean she's not entitled to it? I was under the impression that all children in special school were picked up and bused into school. Do I need to apply for the transport separately?

I've emailed the SEN dept at the LA but they haven't got back to me yet.

Depends on what your LEA rules are.
Toad gets transport because simply, it is the nearest school suitable for his needs but is 18 miles away.

Have you tried googling for your county's rules? Try school transport rules. It's where I found the distances that meant my LEA had to provide transport.

In our borough you have to apply separately it's not automatic

If she loves further than 3 miles away or her SEN are such that she is unsafe to walk 3 miles, then she will be entitled to transport.

The statement doesn't have to say anything about transport. If dd qualifies, she qualifies, and it doesn't matter whether it's in the statement or not. But you will have to apply separately.
