ASD How to search for schools? Also, can you recommend a school, East London?

My son has ASD. He's been in a mainstream school in West London, with additional support, he has a statement and diagnosis. I had to move to East London quickly. I don't know whether to keep my son in mainstream school, or to try a for children with ASD. Do you have advice on what worked for you? Can you recommend schools, or how to look for schools? Thank you

Sorry, I don't know anything about London schools but will bump this thread up for you in case someone else can help. :)

My dd2 is at whitefield school in Waltham Forest it's brilliant , however they tend not to take children who are average academically , it's more geared to children with autism and learning difficulties

I remember someone saying there's a school in hackney with asd unit.

I don't think hackney has an asd provision because that's why a lot of children from there attend dd2s school

Hackney has three ASD units attached to primary schools, and an ASD resource at one of the secondaries. There are no autism specific SN schools, but two of the SN schools take a range of SN including autism. Best way to find out about the specifics is looking on the LA websites or the NAS search.
