Is this just a phase or another possible sign of ASD?

I have recently had a couple of threads on here as I have concerns about my DD and DS1. As DS's 'quirks' are not causing any problems at the moment I'm keeping a diary whilst focusing on getting help for DD as she is struggling.

What I wanted to ask you helpful people is something about my DS1. The last couple of days he has referred to himself by name all the time, not using I or me he has said his name (or called himself a name DD used to call him when he was born as she was only 2 and couldn't say his name so gave him a nickname)

So for example 'xxx wants a drink' 'xxx wants to play outside' etc. is this a phase, he has occasionally done it before but not constantly like now!

Any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

Could be either. Sorry that's no help.

I thought it could probably be either, although DS1 is 5 and at school so wasn't sure if he would have grown out of this phase by now?

I do it all the time - "mummy would like..." When talking about me. I'm assuming I've started it because it's the only bloody word I hear at the moment. Kind of like a child in school maybe?
