the hospital is 25 miles away!! its an appointment for my daughter - the one with dyslexia. we had asked for a referral re possible dyspraxia and have an OT appointment for june then this appointment also appeared.

it says see the leaflet but there was no leaflet but had a google and looks like a paed, salt and oT will be there - not sure what to expect really. I have my private salt and oT reports so guess I should take them. I have my head in the sand here as I don't see any difficulties that aren't dyslexia related but the reports have thrown up a few red flags and I think she may have auditory processing issues but I don't think anything can be done about that can it?

dh is coming home from work early so he can look after the 2 boys as its half term and im hoping I can find the hospital, don't get lost and am not late!!

Yes, lots can be done about Auditory Processing Disorder. DS is currently on the Johansen APD therapy programme - and I've seen a marked difference in his auditory processing since he started the programme.

APD was always the question mark when all the indie and LA reports were done over the last couple of years. Because the LA couldn't be bothered, and I had run out of money, we never did get it properly dx before Tribunal. However, since he's been at his new school, the in-house SALT has picked it up and is now properly treating it.

The SALT would be the one for APD. It is worth getting it properly dx because proper treatment can bring good results for DC.

will ask today - I went up to dry her hair as she has had a shower and she had her hands over her ears whilst drying her hair. yesterday we had a new stairs carpet fitted and she was the one sat there with the ear defenders on! her dyslexia report comments she can process if more than one person is talking and the OT report also makes reference to it as she witnessed her struggling her class. ive had her hearing checked and she has crystal clear hearing and if anything her hearing is too good if that makes sense?
