Autism article in Sun Time Glossy this Sun - ABA focus

There will be an article on ABA and autism in the Sun Times glossy magazine this Sunday, featuring an old-timer regular mumsnetter.

Letters to the sun times letters page with your views on ABA, good or bad, might help us keep autism education debates in the mainstream media rather than hidden away from sight.

Newspapers are more likely to publish letters topical to SN when it has just been in the paper.

I have subscribed temporarily to get the article (can get a trial month for £1). Interesting reading and def worth £1 (even if you are not so keen to give the £1 to Murdoch!).

moondog · 16/04/2014 21:34

Well done all involved. It's caused quite a buzz. I have had a fair few number of messages from friends and family about it too.

StarlightMcKenzie · 17/04/2014 08:49

It's been totally ignored by the NAS!

That's a very interesting video. I work with children with autism who have similar abilities. Very good video.

SisterChristina · 17/04/2014 12:53

Absolutely disgraceful that the NAS have ignored this.

Speaks volumes

sickofsocalledexperts · 17/04/2014 17:51

I think even if the NAS don't like ABA they should be an impartial information resource for parents and cover a big article like this

sickofsocalledexperts · 20/04/2014 16:56

Following on from this article there are loads of pro ABA letters in today's main Sunday Times newspaper (page 31). The basic point most make is that ABA has been brilliant for their child with autism and should be available (to those who choose it) on the NHS.

Saturday's times had a big spread on 'dyslexia'. Professor from Durham uni. Said a 'nice lady' babysitting was no substitute for actual teaching Grin

sickofsocalledexperts · 22/04/2014 18:55

That is a great quote! The 'nice lady hovering around aimlessly' would sum up lots of LSA support I have seen, hence I always wanted ABA-trained LSAs when my boy was at mainstream!

salondon · 24/04/2014 08:47

'nice lady hovering around aimlessly' sums it
