Following on from this thread, we're pleased to announce that Professor Richard Hastings will be joining us for a webchat next Monday evening.

Richard is currently a Professor of Education and Psychology and Cerebra Chair of Family Research in the Centre for Educational Development, Appraisal and Research (CEDAR) at the University of Warwick. He is a researcher with interests in educational interventions, including early intervention, for children with learning disability (LD) or autism; mental health and behaviour problems in children and adolescents with LD/autism; and the experiences of families raising children with LD/autism. Richard is working to make research findings and evidence available to parents, including through his blog.

We hope you'll be able to join us on the night; if you can't make it, do please post up your questions on the thread in advance, as ever.

Thanks
MNHQ

Oh and thanks you very much for your comment about the 'cool skill' to modify behaviour.
For various reasons it has been the nicest that anyone has ever said about dc2 change of behaviour :)

TheLightPassenger · 18/03/2014 16:13

Thank you very much Prof for giving such full and well thought answers to all our questions, much appreciated Flowers

Wow, amazing webchat.

ProfessorRichardHastings · 19/03/2014 21:30

Ok, I haven't received any "you didn't answer my question" comments so I'll not check back here now. Please email me if you haven't got around to complaining in this open forum!

I know I failed to answer an ADHD question, and very sorry that was just too far from my expertise to try to make up a response.

Best of luck to everyone and see you again sometime (maybe!)
Richard

lionheart · 19/03/2014 21:45

I wonder if that is a first for a mumsnet webchat?
Reading this thread through and following up the links has been really very useful.

Thanks for going the extra mile. Smile

moondog · 20/03/2014 16:41

It's the first time anyone has ever come back and answered every single question posed, which is within their professional competence.
The Prof has set the bar very high indeed for all future webchats on MN!!

MariaNotChristmas · 20/03/2014 19:36

Moondog, could you tell him (yet again) how very useful this was? I didn't bother with any questions of my own cos others asked them for me!

moondog · 20/03/2014 19:44

I certainly will Maria!

bochead · 20/03/2014 20:13

can we keep this as a sticky?

Incredibly helpful for some newbies to the forum and this old timer is still wading thru all the fantastic info links provided!

RaRaTheNoisyLion · 20/03/2014 20:36

'Please email me if you haven't got around to complaining in this open forum!'

Lol be very careful what you wish for!

I have no complaints at all about this web-chat. I am literally overwhelmed at the detail, thoroughness and above all absence of patronisation ----

--- but complaints general, - well that is a whole other story, or even several stories!!!!!!

moondog · 20/03/2014 20:50

Did you contact MN Boc to ask this or to ask for it to be stored in the SN section? I agree. It is too precious to vanish into cyberspace.

Redoubtable · 20/03/2014 21:31

Another one to say again,
thank you Professor, you've set a precedence for the standard of webchat that we will expect Smile

I would love to see this kept somewhere...personally, I am taking the time to wade through the information and links, and would hate to lose it.

bochead · 21/03/2014 08:47

bump - sticky please MNHQ

Or can you store it on the SN section of the main site?

MariaNotChristmas · 21/03/2014 22:04

Sticky and store?

bochead · 21/03/2014 23:37

someone other than me please contact mnhq - if they get enough of us asking they'll cede to our request.

In the meantime this is a bump to keep a really useful source of info on the front page

lionheart · 22/03/2014 12:57

Another bump.

moondog · 22/03/2014 14:10

I contacted them-good if others did. I just reported Boc's post with an explanatory note.

KateSMumsnet · 22/03/2014 16:34

Hullo folks,

So sorry we haven't gotten back to you sooner. This thread is still stickied in SN Chat, which seems to be the most 'central' place to keep it for now, but if you'd rather it was stickied in another topic do shout.

We totally see what you mean about it being a good source of info, we'll see if there's anything we can do to make it more permanent.

RowanMumsnet · 24/03/2014 09:17

Hi all

Sorry we didn't answer this question last week. We're in the process of 'archiving' the chat (ie turning into a page that's more easily read and digested) and we will link to that around the SN area when we've done it.
