la took my ds' views without my permission - is this allowed?

i have an appeal lodged with sendist, appealing parts 2 and 3 of ds statement.
had meeting with lea yesterday and lea informed me they had taken my ds views (apparently ds said he doesn't want any extra support frm slt). are they allowed to do this without my permission? I had no idea they were going to speak to him and I also dont know what else they asked him. also what are the implications of ds views RE the tribunal?

in all honesty they don't make that much difference but that's not the point - must be they day for this if you have seen my posts earlier. have they supplied a copy of his views to you? you can also submit your own views from you son as well. sounds like he didn't really understand what he was being asked or the questions were shall I say - worded in a certain way? but you can express your opinion to tribunal and let it be know that they were taken without your knowledge . I would also complain to the LA as well that your permission was not sought nor given

I would video your child's views and submit them that way with a transcript.

One school took my child's views without my knowledge, but though we were in a tribunal situation I don't think it was done maliciously, but just because they were told to get them.

Regarding him not wanting support from SLT, that is an important point tbh and indicates that the support they are offering is inappropriate to meet his needs, and will not.

Thanks for replying. the thing I star I am tring to get the slt included in part 3 and the lea are refusing. plus tbh my ds doesnt understand what a slt is etc.
can I ask the lea to give me a copy of his views?

I wouldn't worry too much tbh. If a child said they didn't want to go to the GP for hearing difficulties, or a unusual rash would you simply not take them? Would you not do reading practice with them if they said they don't want to read? Would you let them go to school without their coat in mid-winter if they said they didn't want it?

Your DS is a child and does not know the full implications of what he is refusing, though quite honestly some SLT is truly worth refusing.

yes of course you can ask for a copy - the LA should have given them to you already without question. I think he has been asked some pretty leading questions given what you are appealing about and I would think a tribunal would see straight through it

thanks for the reassurance. the lea are really stooping to low levels at the moment - the EPs argument to not specify the support in statement was that it would prevent ds from attending a 3 day residential school trip as they wouldnt be able to provide the daily slt on the trip!

Anyway, you can get around that by saying 5 times weekly ffs.
