Quick Question please - does anyone know the regularity of DLA reviews?

DD2 is 2 years, 8 months and has CP. She has been in receipt of mid-level DLA for about 3 months. I filled in the DLA form accurately 4-5 months ago, but she has continued to develop during that time. I'm expecting the DWP will instigate a review (have us resubmit updated forms) as she is very young and they'd need to keep an accurate picture of her abilities.

Does anyone know if there is a standard timeframe for a 'review'? Will DWP write to me, or do I need to instigate it? Cheers .

They won't review your dd claim until the award end date, however they will send out a renewal form six moths before that date to give you time to fill it in.

I got an "indefinite" award for DS2, when he was that age, which was then turned into 3 years when I applied for mobility, as he turned 5.

If there is a significant improvement (ie enough to affect entitlement), lasting more than 6 months (might be 3 - need to check), then you are expected to report and re-apply, accordingly. Similarly, if there is a signifcant persistent deterioration, you can reapply, if it's likely to affect your aaward. Otherwise, the award lasts for as long as they say it will on the notification letter, unless they have very good reason to suggest a review.

Indefinite awards have been scrapped. Existing DLA awards will be stopped when the child reaches 16yrs and they will have to apply for PIP instead. I don't know how long the longest PIP award can be awarded for, but it's a bit of a nonsense for some disabilities that can never improve.
Children's DLA awards vary from 18 months to 16th birthday.
I don't think they are planning to review existing indefinite DLA awards for children under 16, until they reach 16yrs. All adult indefinite DLA awards will be reviewed by 2017.

There will normally be an end date on the award letter as others have said.

However there may be random reviews by the dwp during that period. In the 15 years ds has had dla we have just had one unexpected random review, some people may not have any, others may have more.
