School Action Plus and transition to secondary

My AS ds started secondary in September. He was on School Action Plus at primary school. His secondary school is in a different borough to his primary. Surely he should still stay on School Action Plus at secondary school? And therefore have regularly IEP meetings etc? Nothing has happened since we're at secondary, I'm about to ask the SEN there about it, but would appreciate knowing if my expectations are reasonable.

His SN status should have been stated in the pack of information that his junior handed over to his secondary. So if he was on SA+ and had IEPS you would expect that to continue at secondary.

I'd ring the secondary SENCO and ask when she/he's planning to do your DS's IEP review.

Unfortunately things tend to slide in secondary schools and SENCOs are rarely as proactive as they are in junior schools. Secondary transfer can be a very difficult time for a child with AS - especially if their support that enabled them to cope has suddenly been withdrawn.

DS changed from Primary to Secondary in September. We also changed district councils. DS School Action Plus has continued seamlessly and I have regular meetings with the Secondary SENCO. It sounds like something has gone badly wrong in your case and I hope you get it sorted

We are on SA+ for ASD/Asperger's, and ds2 received a taster day to himself with a TA in Sept 2012 (to see how he fitted in/if he would fit in). That being okay, we had a transition meeting once he received a place at Secondary in June 2013. Then we had a meeting with SENCO from the beginning of his attendance at secondary, and two more meetings since, and we are having another meeting next week. Also we were told to keep in touch by email with senco, and have done, over any issues that arose.

We also have all homework emailed to us, and a TA who helps him throughout the week, and other interventions with literacy/organisation.
