Does anyone have any experience of newborn hypoglycemia?

My son had an MRI which found brain damage. After initially being told this would have occurred between 20 weeks and birth it's now being hypothised that it may have been caused by his poor feeding and not the other way around.

We requested help many times after he was born as he wasn't feeding well but he wasn't weighed and didn't have his blood sugar checked until Day 5.

Anyone had experience of something similar?

Thanks

What was his blood sugar on day 5? Who is doing the hypothesising? I would discuss this with fetal medicine and neonatal Consultants tbh and even then it may be difficult to identify direct cause. How old is he now? It sounds like a really stressful time. Thanks

He's now 5. Wasn't diagnosed until 4.5. A paediatric neuro radiologist is questioning the accuracy of the interpretation of the scan which is currently periventricular leukomalacia.

Fair enough but this person would need to consult with medical colleagues and look again at the history. Hope you get the help you need.
