Is there any way of finding out what out of borough schools your la have sent children to?

Hello I'm asking this because of my son imsorry this could be long! Ds is in yr 4 and has a diagnosis of high functioning autism . He will need support in secondary as he is very anxious and doesn't deal well with change . He currently doesn't have a statement . In our borough there is a unit for hfa attached to a mainstream secondary but you need a statement and worryingly there are only three places a year. This school seems supportive of sen and I have spoken to parents who are happy. My worry is that my borough is obsessed with catchment areas we applied for this school for dd1 and didn't get in so I was wondering where I could find out about suitable schools out of borough sorry for mega post

Get a Statement.

That's the first step. If you're think about an ASD base attached to mainstream you really need him in there as soon as he transfers to secondary. He can't get in without a Statement.

Forget all about how many places the LA have or don't have - if the need is there the LA has to find spaces and within reasonable travelling distance.

So I'd get cracking on the request for a Statement immediately.

With a statement you can choose any state school you want, increase your chances of a unit and/or independent/out of county.

Just write to the LA asking for the names and addresses of all the ooc schools the LA has funded children at in the last 5 years.

A letter like that would be a FOI request whether you said it or not.
