How many hours overnight care do you need for hrc?

Just curious as I have to re fill out a form because dd is due to turn five.

It's not as simple as a number of hours. It's about the length of time you're up and how often.

What's your DD's sleep pattern through the week?

She doesn't go to sleep till 12 even though she goes to bed at 8 and then she is up at 2 it takes a hour to re settle her when she wakes then up at 8.

The not sleeping until midnight will only count as night time if you actually settle for the night before then. Otherwise, it will be viewed as day time.

E.g. DD is settled for bed at 8, but we don't go to bed until she is asleep, which can be as late as midnight - Day time.

DD is settled for bed at 8. We go to bed at 11pm. DD then makes noises,etc., and needs to be settled from 11.15 until midnight - Night time.

The waking in the night, would be counted as night.

Generally 3 disturbances of 20 minutes or more at night, or one prolonged period e.g. an hour, for at least 5 out of 7 nights and constant supervision/guidance in the day = high rate care.

Fine in the day but up at night = mid rate care.
Constant supervision in the day but sleeps at night = mid rate care.

You should get higher rate, we get it for dd2 and have done since she was 5 (she's now 8). I don't thinks it is done by 'how many hours at night' anymore (I think it changed last year), its now based on hours of care for the whole day and how the disability effects the child over all.

You still need to demonstrate care needs day and night for higher rate care, marne (Just sent off a renewal of my own, today)
