Anyone with any opinions on SEN provision in Haringey primary schools?

DD is 3.7 and undergoing assessment for asd although no diagnosis as yet. She is due to start reception in September and we are facing dilemma about which school to put as first choice - application due on Wednesday!

We are applying for Mainstream places, and although we have visited schools and gone through Ofsted reviews, I was just wondering if any mumsnetters were based in this part of London and might be able to offer insights/feedback based on recent personal experience?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I know nothing about Haringey primary schools, sorry, just wanted to give this a bump so more people can see it.

Hello my sister works as a TA in a haringey primary ms school and it sounds fab with regards to sen. It's called Harris primary academy in Philip lane. there is also special autistic unit joined onto the mulberry school. Maybe worth looking in to. My sister is a very good TA and I have been very impressed with some of the stuff the school do. I think they have a special needs class with a trained teacher who only works in that class and the children do morning or afternoon sessions in there.

Skylar, thank you very much for your reply and the info about those two schools. They are a little way away for us, but I am going to read up on both of them. A recommendation is worth a lot!

Thanks Smile

Are you a member of Haringey Autism? It is a very good NAS branch, you would get lots of good advice there. Also try Markfield.

Some aspects of Haringey Autism may be helpful but I would be aware that they are not pro-ABA and given that ABA is the only evidence based approach to ASD you need to be very aware...

Thanks for the info on Haringey Autism, Davros, I will look them up (and also bear in mind theDudeMummy's warning re. ABA).

Although HA is run by someone who did a home ABA programme! I'm sure she doesn't suggest or expect everyone to do it which can come across as unsupportive and some of the other people involved are not ABAers. But if you want ABA info and you are clear about that then I'm sure you'd get it there

Hi my DS is 8 I know this is a old post . I was currently home school for a Year and now have him back in a main stream school . He is the process of being assessed for adhd and autism . He old school let him down . He in a school at the moment in Haringey but i feel he need more Provision and support and they can't stretch what they have already in place for him . I don't know if I made the right choice to put him back in without a echp. Any ideas of primary school that are good in Haringey with good sen Provision . The school is fine but I don't feel it's for my son

First things first You really need to apply for a ehcp (if the school won't then you can apply yourself).
