community peadiatric appointment, what to expect and how to prepare dd.

I have an appointment for dd1 10yo with the community pead and I really dont know what to expect, how to prepare dd and how to perpare myself, what to take, what information they will need. Any information would be really helpful, thanks.

What is it for ? Normally they take a history from pregnancy to now then observe the child doing certain tasks - how they approach it, understanding, progress an speed. Redbook may be helpful and any notes you want to make about relevant concerns and behaviour , you and/or school . This may be the first of several appointments with the paed or any specialists he chooses to refer to for assessment. Don't assume that this initial appointment will answer more questions than it raises.
