Hi, my daughter wears Piedro boots and yesterday said they hurt. I looked and she had a blister on her heel. I got the insoles out and put her foot on top to see, and her toes were right at the end. Aaagh!
It would obviously take ages to get an appointment to have her fitted again, and then they take about 2 weeks to arrive.

I've ordered her some pink ones on the website as they were in the sale. I've measured her feet over and over by drawing around them etc. So I'm sure I have the right size, but I'm not sure how long they'll take to come, as although we chose 24 hour delivery, we've missed Christmas post.

She has some trainers she could wear in the mean time, but she'd have to wear the pale pink Piedro's, when they come, to school until she can get her black ones. This could take up to 4 weeks! Do you think the school would be OK with this?

I feel really bad for not checking them before now, but her shoes always last 6 months. It's been 5, but she's had a growth spurt.

I can't imagine any school making a fuss over this. I would just mention to the teacher that it's a medical issue and will be sorted soon, and leave it at that.

Email the head, explaining what's happened and that she needs her Piedro's, even if they are pink. Reasonable accommodation for a short period of time.
If the school is unreasonable, contact the LEA inclusion team to back you up.

Thank you both. Smile

The school must accept them they are a medical need like glasses or a hearing aid

I am afraid DD wears purple boots as her feet are tiny and still in toddler shoes and no one at school has said anything.

Dd2 wore whatever colour piedros we had at the time - pink won't be an issue until the black ones arrive under 'reasonable adaptations'.

If you would prefer her not to be drawing attention to the fact she needs specialist footwear, you could always go to an indie shoe shop and see what they have in the interim. There are a couple of European brands that have decent-ish stability boots, sometimes in black, or even kickers at a push until the piedros arrive.

Have you got neuro insoles, or just the regular ones? If you have neuro insoles in the piedros, you'll need to get some ordered in the next size as well.
