I put a claim in for Ds 5 for DLA on the advice of some lovely Mnetters .

I was refused .

It is now going to Tribunal and i have been told to hand in more evidence .

But what on earth can i send in , To make them see what i see in my Ds ??

I got a copy of the case file and the specialist at the hospital had wrote down that he was just a normal boy and sat nice and quietly while he has seen him ??
WTF he was running round like a lunatic shouting and trashing the place before escaping out of the room and then proceeded to do the minute mile for a change .

He has suspected AS/ADHD but because he is fine at school nobody believes me because of this Sad
He is only ok at school because he has been attending their since he was 3 so knows everybody (very small school , 1 class per year) , It would be a completely different story if he was in a main stream school.

I have tried to take Videos of him having a meltdown etc but he just gets to violent towards me so its not possible .
I have wrote a few new things down which i will send in , but what else ??

I need this to make my Ds's life better , we cant leave the house as its just to stressful for him so not worth it .

We had to go away last weekend to see Dmil and we had to get the train , he would not sit near anybody and when i tried to get him to sit on a seat by himself he wouldn't because it was dirty Xmas Hmm and if anybody looked at him or tried to talk to him he would scream and start attacking me .
He had a meltdown just as we were about to get off the train and would not move and the door was about to shut on him so i pushed him out of the way and ended up spraining my wrist because the door shut on me .

This is not normal , how can i make them see this ????

Well you could start with the doctor whose advice was so wrong. Ask him to correct his report.

You can also use some of the points you made above i.e. it's common for children with ASD to act differently at home than they do at school - T Atwood 'Aspergers Syndrome- A Guide for Parents and Professionals'

Different triggers when at home / out and about than in school which is a small familiar setting.

Spends more time at home than school so more oportunity to display behaviours. School only sees him for part of the day - DWP are placing too much emphasis on school's report.

Does he get extra help at school? If so, school behaviour is only good because he gets that extra support.

etc etc

Thanks for replying

No he doesnt get extra support at school , but like i said he has known everybody since he was three (his classmates and Teacher) which is why he is ok their .
The Doctor at the hospital cant wont see me until his next appointment in January unfortunately .
Also his GP is as much use as a chocolate Teapot so its just me fighting this .
Will sit down and write all his triggers etc down sunday , Do i need to give an example for each one ??

Thanks

You could write to the hospital doctor and express your surprise at the account he has provided to the DWP. You could ask him to correct it. You don't have to wait until your next appointment, you can ask in writing. It's not good to have ,misinformation on file and leave it unchallenged.

The DWP will have given you reasons for refusing DLA so you just need to ask for a reconsideration (I think it's called this - someone on here will know). They quite often back down rather than go to Tribunal.

Otherwise it's a case of providing evidence that refutes their reasons for refusing DLA. You may want a friend/ relative to give evidence too.

This is the last step as i asked for a reconsideration first and that was refused as well , I will write to the Doctor next week thanks

I think you really need to persevere with trying to film him when he's having a meltdown. Can a friend help, or can you set the camera up where he can't see it?

I have to try from my phone , the times i have tried i have had 2 black eyes and lots of stuff broken Xmas Sad

In that case get someone else to film you trying to film him.
