SN children

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on special needs.

A little advice on what questions to ask?

We've finally been granted some facetime with the Inclusion Manager at a prospective school for DS tomorrow. We want to make sure that we are prepared and have a list of questions.

So far we have:

How many TAs per class
What provisions can they make for DS whose default setting is to run/skip/jump up and down on the spot if he isn't being made to concentrate by an adult
What supervision is at breaktimes
What assistance would be available to him at lunchtimes
What SEN children do you have here with/without statements and how do they cope with large classes

Can you think of anything else? Sorry to seem to needy, just want to make sure we've got all bases covered.

Really just to say good luck for your meeting today.

One other question we asked is what they would do if ds had a meltdown? The answer (tell him he is at big school now) told us all we needed to know about the ignorance of the senco so was quite illuminating.

Also, as ds is a runner what their security arrangements are like.

Thanks for your reply! The meeting was great, we loved the school, it really couldn't have gone any better so a massive relief.
