Looking after a monkey is the same as looking after an sn child.

According to some woman on channel 5 who has a pet monkey. I did this

This monkey has a very nice cage with a slide and everything.

i cried. its not often i do, usually it all washes off, but that someone could sit smiling and saying their pet monkey was the same as an sn (ovbiously i personalised it into MY) child, made my heart ache. also thinking of all the people out there who would have gone, oh yes, i bet it is the same.

a monkey. ffs. a ruddy monkey. what a world.

I caught bits of this programme, didn't see that particular comment but it doesn't surprise me. People who keep monkeys/giraffes/aligators etc as pets are pretty f*cked up and thoughtless in my opinion anyway.

My SN childs not that hairy, he wouldn't need nearly so much bathing and grooming as a monkey would...

seriously though, some people are beyond the pale, thats a disgusting thing to have said...

Of course I can't start ranting, we all know what that leads to.

yes, oh well, i've calmed down considerably and decided to spend the weekend de-fleaing ds1 (i hear it makes a tasty meal) and teaching ds2 to catch termites on the end of a stick.

bananas for tea again.

I would have put my foot through the screen.

One of my teachers once said of my brother (severely autistic) that it was a waste of a school place letting him come to school. I was ten at the time, so I just gaped at him. Ignorant pig.

Fio, if I upset you when I criticised the thread title of your other thread, then I apologise. It was only the title itself I took issue with. I did also say that I thought the thread itself was a good and positive thing. I really wasn't intending to hurt anyone.

@ monkeywoman, i will let you know that looking after a monkey looks like less work to me. i mean do you have to take a monkey to assessments, SALT, physio, SN groups, have people ask whats up with your monkley today when your monkey is having a super-hyper-schreeching-boucing day, cos thats what monkeys do dont they? fgs, [misdee goes back under her rock for the day muttering]
