DS falling and bashing his face aged 7 with ASD

This has happened 3 times over the last 3 months and DS seems not to be able to save himself with his hands and he really scrapes his face. He has been struggling in his new year at school and is very tired a lot of the time which I'm wondering if this is effecting his balance. I am just wondering if he has dyspraxia as well as autism. His writing and drawing is at a quite young age and he still cannot eat with a knife and fork and he was 6 before he could ride a bike.

Any advise gladly and gratefully received.

Dd3 used to fall loads and often didnt save herself when she was younger.

She was diagnosed with hypermobility in all her joints and given orthotics for her shoes. Since having them the falling has probably been reduced by 90% ! It has made a massive difference.

She still doesnt always save herself but she only falls once a week ish now instead of daily.

Get a referall to OT and physio as polter said Grin

Good luck Smile

DS has very lax joints, he used to fall and trip a lot but has been much better. It's just been recently he started falling again. I will get in touch with the OT department he had one who just stopped seeing him without discharging him.

Thank you both for your replies, much appreciated.

xx

Hyper mobility is easy to diagnose. As they grow it can get worse for a bit. Dyspraxic people can't get their arms out in time to save themselves. There is quite a lot of crossover in those areas so it worth checking out

Thanks, I was getting really worried that something might be more seriously wrong because the falling had stopped really and now started again. I will get it checked out.
