Hi, has anyone's child ever had an assessment for asd in the day unit at CAMHS? My 7 year old has been in the unit for 6 weeks and Friday will be his 7th week. We were originally told he would be there for 4 weeks but then they decided they needed to keep him longer but they haven't said why. Friday will be his last session.

Does anyone know what the review is for? What happens at the review, who is involved etc? Will they tell me whether he will be getting a diagnosis or not? I have had no contact with them since his first day and have no idea how it has been going.

It is so frustrating waiting. I am quite an anxious person and it would be great to have some idea of what may happen.

my dd went to a camhs unit quite a few years ago, she would go 3 days a week at first, other 2 days where spent in ms school, they assessed her difficulties and showed her different coping strategies, my dd had 18months of split placement, my dd placement at the unit started out as being for a month, she even had to go to the unit in school holidays. the unit will probably call a meeting with you to tell you what they have observed and coping strategies to put in place. hth
