We are visiting the school for ds 8, asd and severe speech disorder. Anybody has any experience? We would really appreciate any info, good or bad.

I don't know the actual school for teaching etc, which may be excellent, but locally its known for having a really high turnover of staff.

Thank you very much, it is not a good sign, is it? I was wondering why the LEA is offering us an independent school so easily.

Hi my 11 year old son gose there been there since he was 8. I have to say I have not notes staff changes that much my son has had the same team for about 2 years now. About the school I think its a lovey caring school and they work so hard with the children my son has improved so much since hes been there I would advice you to have a look. Anyway good luck what ever you decide.

Re: St Joseph's Cranleigh, I write as part of the management team and can confirm that whilst we have higher staff turnover than the mainstream - much of this is due to our specialism in that graduates often join us for a year or two prior to deciding which aspect of special needs they will pursue in their professional career. We have quite a number who join us as Teaching Assistants or Residential Care Workers, who then go on to train as Teachers, Therapists or to get some mainstream experience. We also have a significant number who return to us after gaining their higher qualifications and/or experience. I hope this helps you form an opinion, but whichever school you decide could be of interest - do visit the school and ask lots of questions of staff and children!
